History
Horticulture Agency Bahawalpur (HA) was established under the Punjab Horticulture Authority Act 2025, constituted to develop, manage, and maintain parks, green belts, open spaces, and other horticultural assets in and around Bahawalpur.
The authority operates under the provisions of "THE PUNJAB HORTICULTURE AUTHORITY ACT 2025", duly enacted by the Provincial Assembly of Punjab, reinforcing the mandate of the authority to promote horticulture, urban greening, and environmental sustainability across the region.
Milestones Timeline
- 2014: HA Bahawalpur was formally established under the Parks & Horticulture Authority Act 2012, marking the beginning of organized horticulture management in the city.
- Early 2016s: Rapid expansion of park development and green belt maintenance across major roads and residential areas of Bahawalpur.
- 2017–2018: Introduction of commercial nurseries and large-scale plantation campaigns that significantly increased the green cover of the city.
- 2018 onwards: Modernization of park facilities, inauguration of theme parks, and the launch of annual Spring Festivals and Chrysanthemum Shows.
- Present: HA Bahawalpur manages over 24 parks and green spaces, continuing to transform Bahawalpur into the City of Gardens for South Punjab.
Over the decades, HA Bahawalpur has grown from a small municipal body to a full-fledged authority with hundreds of dedicated staff, specialized equipment, and a clear mandate to keep Bahawalpur green, clean, and beautiful for generations to come.
