Functions
The Engineering Directorate is a core component of the Authority, functioning for the following activities:
Maintenance of Engineering Works
The maintenance of major parks, green belts, and roundabouts across Bahawalpur city consists of boundary walls with fencing, hard landscaping, irrigation systems, and parks light systems. It also includes maintaining garden and park fixtures like sitting benches, dust bins, tree guards, fountains, waterfalls, gazebos, children's play items, fitness units, public toilets, and drinking water facilities. These maintenance works are taken up on field reports from Horticulture staff after obtaining approval of the Competent Authority.
Development Works
The development of new parks and sports facilities is taken up according to approved scheme plans and hard landscaping of the designated areas of the Authority after obtaining approval from the Competent Authority.
Up-gradation of Parks
On the direction and approval of the Competent Authority, the up-gradation of green belts, parks, and roundabouts — consisting of civil works, sports facilities, irrigation systems, light systems, and fountains — is carried out after obtaining approval of the Authority.
Enlistment of Firms
All contractors are enlisted through the Engineering Directorate and are also pre-qualified for technical works as per laid-down criteria issued by the Government of the Punjab.
