Horticulture Directorate
Functions
The Horticulture Directorate is the green heart of PHA Bahawalpur. It is responsible for the plantation, cultivation, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns across all parks, green belts, and public spaces within the city.
Plantation & Cultivation
The directorate plans and executes large-scale tree plantation drives, seasonal flower cultivation, and lawn development in all public green spaces. It maintains commercial nurseries to ensure a continuous supply of healthy plants, saplings, and flowering species for city beautification projects.
Parks & Green Belt Maintenance
Regular horticultural maintenance is carried out in all parks, roundabouts, road medians, and green belts. This includes trimming, mowing, watering, fertilisation, pest control, and replanting as necessary to keep public spaces lush and attractive throughout the year.
Environmental Awareness
The directorate also promotes environmental awareness among citizens through tree plantation campaigns, school outreach programmes, and community gardening initiatives. It collaborates with civil society organisations and educational institutions to foster a culture of environmental responsibility.
Nursery Management
PHA operates several horticultural nurseries where plants, saplings, and flowers are cultivated before deployment in parks and public areas. These nurseries serve as a resource hub for the directorate's operational requirements and seasonal beautification drives.
